Same as what happened to me back in April 2012 in Shangri-La Jakarta and recently Crowne Plaza Jakarta

How did you failed at Crowne Plaza Jakarta?
I was stopped by the security at the main gate when I attempted to enter the building

And maybe try entering when a car is driving into a hotel if you were questioned at the entrance gate*, so that the security guard will be focusing on questioning the car instead of you.
If you were questioned at the entrance door**, try waiting until a car park in the drop-off area, and follow people who got off the car.
*Entrance gate: Where cars drive in and people walk in to the hotel area.
**Entrance door: Where people walk in to the hotel building.

Sadly, that hotel doesn't have a drop in/off area. The lobby entrance is actually facing the street. The least thing I can enter the hotel is when the guard is not looking at me, so I can quickly enter the hotel.

I didn't get questioned because they don't care and I never ask a permission to go to the toilet, restaurant or event. From now on, I will always ignore security guards standing on the hotel's entrance because they won't asking me, and I will never asks a permission unless I'm getting questioned. This also proves to be 99% successful on previous hotels I've visited before this "disappointed day" (also for the 7 different hotels). Maybe in that day, I was actually wrong because I was ask a permission to use the toilet and caused me to failed finding the elevators.
Maybe someday when I happened to be in Oberoi Street, I will tried to enter that [undisclosed hotel] to film the elevators, and hopefully I will not get familirized by the same guard who was escorting me to the toilet before (well I will just gonna ignore him no matter what).

Now I've realized something:

After my "12 Elevators in 1 Day" where I go to 7 different hotels, I didn't get questioned because they don't care and I never ask a permission to go to the toilet, restaurant or event. From now on, I will always ignore security guards standing on the hotel's entrance because they won't asking me, and I will never asks a permission unless I'm getting questioned. That's cool. On February 11, 2012, I have filmed 12 elevators in one day:
1. Amari Watergate Hotel
2. Baiyok Tower II (19-49 and 50-77 elevators)
3. Baiyok Tower I
4. Indra Regent Hotel
5. The Landmark Bangkok
6. Palladium
7. Phaya Thai Plaza

On June 16, 2012, I have also filmed 12 elevators in one day:
1. CentaraGrand at Central Plaza Lat Phrao
2. Central Plaza Lat Phrao (Parking elevator)
3. Eastin Grand Hotel Sathon (Scenic elevators)
4. Grand Mercure Park Avenue
5. Imperial Queen's Park
6. Bangkok Hotel Lotus Sukhumvit
7. S31 Hotel
8. Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit
9. Union Mall

BONUS STORY: When I was finished film the elevators at The Kuta Playa Hotel, I went out through the lobby and there is a security guard walking from the entrance. When he saw me, he said "Hello" to me and surprisingly he gave me a thumbs up. I didn't have any problem when entering the hotel.
Lucky you! Maybe because the security guard recognized you as an adult.
