Post by: SchindlerLift1874 on August 30, 2012, 10:57:56
This is a guide where you can film elevators in Bali, Indonesia (updated)

Hotels

1. Hard Rock Hotel Bali
The first Hard Rock Hotel chain in Southeast Asia opened in 1993.

The hotels have four older Hyundai elevators which were maintained by PT. ThyssenKrupp Elevator Indonesia (death-trap of course). Access to the hotel itself is fine, as security only guarding the main entrance gate and rarely stays in the entrance lobby. All elevators (except the one in the north wing) are often gets busy, especially the one in the south wing near the restaurant which are usually used by hotel staffs almost every times.

Tips: Never access the hotel from Hard Rock Cafe, as the access gate is for hotel guests and are accessible only with a keycard. Try to access from the main entrance gate.

2. W Hotel Bali

One of the fewer W hotels in Asia, opened on March 2011 and it is located in Petitenget area near Kerobokan.

This hotel has six awesome Sigma elevators, three of the main hotel elevators features an English automated voiceovers including two hidden freight elevators. The glass doors elevator is located on the southern-most side of the hotel gives access to a bar, swimming pool and beachfront. Access to the three main elevators is very fine, you can even pass the reception desk without any problem! Security never seen in the lobby, only in the main entrance gate. A must try elevators when in Bali.

Tips: If you want to try the hidden freight elevators, try to find an open staff only doors behind the main elevators in one of the upper floors, but avoid for staffs inside.

3. The Haven, Seminyak

This hotel (including a rental apartment behind) has Mitsubishi elevators from 2009. Access to the hotel may be hard because security guards the main entrance lobby, so you may dine in at the restaurant or try the "bathroom trick" to sneak in.

Tips: It's best to get a bathroom permission if you want to film the elevators.

4. Anantara Resort Seminyak

Located at Seminyak Beach, opened in 2009.

It has two standard Hyundai elevators. There is a security check in the lobby entrance, so it may impossible to sneak in (unless you dine in one of the restaurants or try the "bathroom trick"). Avoid the staffs when filming the elevators.

5. Harris Resort Kuta

Situated in Kuta Beach just behind the brand new Beachwalk Shopping Mall (formerly Sahid Hotel)

Two old 1990s OTIS elevators are located here. There is also an old abandoned, disused freight elevator which has been sealed off in the north wing hotel. One security guard and hotel staffs stays in the main entrance, but if they're not around, it's safe to enter.

Tips: Enter the hotel from Beachwalk Shopping Mall and try to follow  a large group of people entering the hotel to avoid getting caught by security.

6. Sheraton Hotel Bali

Located next to the Beachwalk mall. It is recommended that you enter via the basement door (B1) so as to avoid getting caught by security on the 1st floor entrance. The basement car park access has two Hyundai elevators which gives you direct access to the hotel lobby.

The hotel is fine for photography.

7. Ibis Styles Hotel By Pass Ngurah Rai

Located along the By Pass Ngurah Rai road (heading towards Ubud) near the Simpang Enam intersection and located next to the Mall Bali Galleria. Enter the hotel from the Mall Bali Galleria parking entrance gate but watch out for guard in the entrance (althought you may also try the upstair entrance). There are three Schindler 3300 AP elevators in the hotel.

More hotels that needs to be analized: Pullman Resort Kuta, The 101 Legian, etc.

to be continued

Shopping Malls

1. Beachwalk Shopping Mall

The newest shopping mall opened in 2012 located at a beachfront of Kuta Beach Bali. Also there is Harris Resort Kuta behind it and a new hotel is planned to be opened in late 2012.

All elevators and escalators are Hyundai M.R.L. elevators. Videotaping is allowed in the shopping mall. Also, this place is ideal for those who want to try the elevators at Harris Resort Kuta (take the rear entrance of the mall) and the Sheraton hotel next to it.

2. Mall Bali Galleria

One of the first shopping mall opened in Bali in 1997, situated at the heart of the bustling and crowded Simpang Siur area, notorious for its long line of traffic jams at all times. There is a DFS Department Store but no passenger elevators. Planet Hollywood restaurant is also located nearby but the elevator is already shut down since 2010.

The only passenger elevator in the mall is a Hyundai scenic elevator installed in 2009. There is also an older LG freight elevator next to the toilets near the scenic elevators. Videotaping is allowed.

Tips: When you're planning to try the freight elevator, try to avoid hours before 1 PM, as the elevator can be busy due to goods loading hours.

3. Lippo Plaza Sunset

A new small mall managed by Lippo Group and a Siloam Hospital is located next to it. There are four Hyundai elevators (two of them are passengers and another two are freights) and four Pillar escalators. Videotaping is fine in the mall.

Other Buildings

1. Rodalink Bike Shop Denpasar

Located at the middle of Denpasar city, along the long Jalan Teuku Umar Street. There are two elevators; passenger and freight, which all of them are 2010 Schindler 3300 AP elevators. You can film there if you're visiting the building just to look or buy bikes or bike accessories. Staffs rarely minds you so you're safe enough to film there.

Tips: If you want to try the freight elevator, ask a permission to the store staffs.

2. UFO Electronic Store Denpasar

Located along the Teuku Umar Street in the middle of Denpasar city, and just a few meters from the Rodalink Bike Shop.

It has a Schindler 3300 AP scenic elevator installed in 2011. You may film the elevator if you're looking or buy electronic goods or home furniture. Try to use mobile phone if you want to film the elevators, as photography is not allowed. However, you can use a digital camera if you want but be careful.

3. Ngurah Rai International Airport

Bali's air transportation hub which contains a domestic (for Indonesian cities destinations) and international terminal. The domestic terminal does not have any single elevators, but the international terminal has two Toshiba hydraulic (?) elevators. The easiest elevator to found is located in the east departure check in area, near a money exchange counter. Photography is fine in the airport.
